Maybe the French taxi industry was shit.

No I don't have any knowledge of the situation or necessary context, just saying. Where I'm from the taxi drivers were thieves and I welcomed the competition, even though I'm no fan of Uber either.

Considering that in the UK the Hackey Carriage license system and black cab system amounted to extortion and blackmail, is it any wonder people here jumped at the chance for Uber.
