Since I work from home most of the time that gives me a lot of time to listen to youtube and podcasts. I was listening to a podcast with Nerdrotic and Chris Gore from film threat and Chris Gore was talking about his experience in film writing and he mentioned that studios are driven by market forces and that is why he is so confused as to why there is this continuous push to put women into programming that generally appeals to guys when you don't see the reverse (i.e. you don't see publishers of romance novels worried about how many men are reading them).

They then brought up that stupid poll they use to "show" that women make up 50% of comic book readers which all that shows is that there are a lot of men and women who think that watching an MCU movie or wearing a Spider-Man shirt makes them a comic book reader.

I know that it is agenda based, but at some point you should realize that catering to pre-teen girls or teenage girls is idiotic. Women who were into comic books already didn't need to be pandered to. Also, I wonder if the execs at Disney Marvel have ever been inside of a comic book store. I remember when I stopped buying new comic books during the All New all Different marvel and couldn't believe when Disney decided to focus on these characters that couldn't sell comic books. I figured they would do anything they could to push America Chavez because she checks all the boxes despite failing to sell books. I guess I'm just still surprised.

Do you think at some point these companies can just accept that certain entertainment appeals to guys and certain entertainment appeals to women?
