HBO Max has a cartoon series that, reading up on it, sounds like really bad fan fiction. All the characters work together in the town of Jellystone, with Yogi Bear being a doctor for some reason, and random characters have been gender flipped or turned gay (including Johnny Quest and Hadji, who are a couple).

Sounds like a shit version of "Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law".

Or Venture Bros.

Johnny Quest and Hadji

Okay. If you absolutely have to do that shit Dr. Quest and Race are right there and such a fucking meme at this point that you might as well just go do it.

But Jonny and Hadji? Hell no. I don't care if it was a 90's reboot with a "strong woman" character. I will 100% go down with the Jonny/Jessie ship. I'm so glad that Venture Bros. basically poisoned the well of an actual JQ reboot.

They do this in the first episode of Harvey Birdman.

Is that for real about Johnny Quest

KingLion7 [S] 16 points ago +16 / -0

Yup, you can find all the bull shit changes they made on tv tropes if you feel like torturing yourself. Oh, and if you look at the poster above the majority of male characters have soy face while the female characters look smug or angry.

My father loved Johnny Quest that shit would have hurt him.

Series writer and storyboarder Melody Iza commented on Jonny and Hadji's relationship on Twitter:

"I don’t think we were able to have anything that explicitly said or showed it but they’re married". "While we didn’t get to be explicit about it, we definitely believe they’re happily married".

It's on the wiki page.

No subject in the world is covered with greater accuracy or more obsessive detail than wikis covering pop culture trash.

Then find the info yourself.

Mpetey123 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's about a cartoon It's not like it's editorializing anything just a character listing and brief description.

BwonsamdiTheDead99 18 points ago +18 / -0

It's always that fucking artstyle.

TomSeeSaw 7 points ago +7 / -0

The Downs style

SisyphusRockAndRoll 3 points ago +3 / -0

Now with soy face!

Smith1980 13 points ago +13 / -0

Just make the original Hanna Barbera cartoons available. I guarantee kids will enjoy those more

Mpetey123 10 points ago +10 / -0

They don't have the correct messaging

Smith1980 10 points ago +10 / -0

True. But that’s a shame because they are timeless

Mpetey123 5 points ago +5 / -0

I agree but the wokies need to erase the past to control the present.

BidenLikesMiners 2 points ago +2 / -0

And we need to erase the w.. whoa. idk what i was just thinking ther woke is nice

the wifi just kicked on

Unknownsailor 11 points ago +12 / -1

I used to think Hanna Barbera animation style was horrible. Fixed, matt backgrounds where only the characters moved.

CalArts is just drek by talentless people. That is before the writing, which is just a bad. The studio that produced that needs to be burned to the ground with everyone still inside, lest they contaminate the rest of the industry...

Assassin47 6 points ago +6 / -0

I like how HB characters always talk with the same animation of their head occasionally bobbing up and down.

And by like I mean it's funny to laugh at while stoned or drunk.

CalArts has no redeeming qualities.

CanuckElhead 6 points ago +6 / -0

I mean Hannah Barbera WAS horrible to an extent, but at least it came out of a necessity for putting animation on television and to their credit, while not pretty their model succeeded while even disney took another 30 years to break in. The calarts style really doesn't have the same excuse since a lot of great looking cartoons can be made inexpensively.

alucard13mmfmj 9 points ago +9 / -0

We need married with children or johnny bravo shows.

folx 13 points ago +13 / -0

They would not be able to get away with the majority of the jokes today, especially the one where Al Bundy roasts a bunch of fat women.

Assassin47 8 points ago +8 / -0

His lesbian neighbor is who is running Hollywood and streaming services. Some variation of her is in charge of all productions today.

Mpetey123 2 points ago +3 / -1

They are rebooting Married with Children as a cartoon with the original cast as the voices?

IamM 5 points ago +5 / -0

"Yogi Bear has also come out as black in all of this, after it was found he has no issues stealing other peoples' picnic baskets. To celebrate, he mauled an entire white family."

Brennus 5 points ago +5 / -0

How do you turn already simplistically drawn cartoons even more simple.

Skywise 4 points ago +4 / -0

Wouldn't be the first time HB characters were used to promote "THE MESSAGE" (du jour).

It started in the early 70s with Yogi's Ark (where the HB Chars try to stamp out pollution and evil capitalism)

Or the renewed Tom and Jerry cartoons of the 70s where Tom and Jerry are happy friends because showing kids conflict is detrimental to their health and they need positive role models in their cartoons.

FartFag5000 3 points ago +3 / -0

They took an already pretty simple art style and made it worse

FatalConceit 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's certainly not going to be Drawn Together

Adamrises 3 points ago +3 / -0

And yet it'll still be the second worst thing they ever created as Yo Yogi! existed.

MegoThor 3 points ago +3 / -0

And it looks exactly how I imagined.

JustHereForTheSalmon 3 points ago +3 / -0

"MAX original"

Yes, it's quite original to copy an 80 year old cartoon.
