I wasn't expecting the protagonists to completely and utterly win by the end. It seemed forced given the prior chapters and the repeated long odds given but having a supercomputer helps, and it's hard to argue with being at the top of a gravity well. I did think Earth gave up rather easily though, but the combat was glossed over and not really the focus.
