So the obvious issue with trends is that you never know the context why someone is using it. It could be standing in solidarity with the hashtag, it could just be someone commenting on an ongoing topic. However even without knowing the proportions involve there are going to be some out there who truly mean the above hashtag.

And likely have no fucking clue what they are admitting to as a result.

Also, a lot of "trending" hashtags are those that Twitter staff wants to promote.

Oh definitely, I only have the account to see what garbage is being curated on the day and fully expect the account to get nuked at some point for being devoid of any interactions.
