A lot of these seem to be to appease ratings boards of whatever governments or perhaps censored before even being released. I have a hard time putting that on the same level of ire as patching something out a year later because the Court of Twitter got mad at them for being "problematic," or the constant force-feeding of racism and faggotry. Still, I am usually the weird one in that I really don't have an insatiable need for tits and dongs in every piece of media I consume, and often that feels like an unpopular take.
True for cases like certain Islamic countries or Australia, but not so true with other Western states.
This is still censorship and it's honestly worse because of its covertness.
Do personal desires matter when it comes to principles? It comes up every time and I don't see how it's relevant to the meta point of not wanting companies like Sony from being authoritarians.
There are ratings boards almost everywhere. ESRB for North America, PEGI for EU at the very least. How much they matter is questionable, but studios do target lower ratings at times.
I was just disappointed in the list. Was hoping for a good avoid for being ruined by wokeness and for the most part it's a list of tit measurements. Particularly the ones mentioning 18+ patches. I mean if someone made a patch for Mario to run around with his cock out, would Super Mario Odyssey end up on the list because the version they actually sell has him wear clothes?
I agree about comparing console games to PC games that have 18+ patches is stupid, but a lot of the list about shit like breasts jiggling.
Meanwhile the same platform has had actual nudity approved and released within the region. Clearly the ratings board are not relevant; in case of games like "Omega Labyrinth Life" and its PS4 equivalent "Labyrinth Life", the problem in a nut shell, and that's a good case -- most can't be bothered with maintaining multiple versions, so they omit it altogether and the practice continues adoption.
This is "anti-sexualization" woke crap, but true, it's not on the same level as say censoring any allusion to Taiwan being its own sovereign nation, etc.
