The Gulag Archipelago by Alekxandr Solzhenitzyn Volume 1 has won the vote.

You will have a week to obtain a copy and read the first 2 chapters. I imagine this Book is going to provide for some very interesting discussion.

If you have an thoughts or suggestions for the book club please let me know.

Go buy the book and afterwards buy an axe and pick a spot in the hallway that is best to defend from.

Learned my lesson with the last book club that I can't really participate while law school's in session xD

Y'all'll really like the book. It can be pretty grim but damn is it an engrossing and eye-opening read.

Or, listen. There's an audiobook of it too, which is what I did. Took an entire summer to get through it but I still remember quite a lot, and that was...oh god about 3 or 4 years ago now.

You can find the audiobook on youtube here.

Is there a specific edition we're reading? I know there's abridged/unabridged, I'm not sure if it was originally written in Russian, because then there might be different translations as well

Can't help you out with different translations but we are reading Volume 1 of the unabridged version.

Ah, the disappearance of Leningrad, good place to start.

Should've done the abridged version. This might be the end of the bookclub.
