This seems fucked up, but what is the point. If you can't read/ write or do math you are not getting in to college. I assume even if you are a transgender black non-binary paraplegic you are still required to read and write to get in to a good school. By removing incentives during highschool you are making the system worse, you will get less people in to higher education (not that this is a bad thing) but it is the exact opposite that they are trying to do.
It will also create a bigger gap between private and public schools. It also gives an advantage to stay at home moms that will make sure their children will know how to properly read, write and do math.
I do not care about Oregon but the sheer stupidity is what bugs me, virtue signaling at the cost of children future and I bet they feel so good about passing this crap.
What makes you think that this isn't going to be the next step. College admissions standards can be very problematic, you know, and can even reinforce racial stereotypes. Much, much better to do away with them and grant admission on an equitable basis.
Princeton University removed the Greek and Latin requirements from their classics degree program. Many other universities are removing those programs all together. At this point college is becoming nothing but an indoctrination program and new age trade school combo.
That's an insult to trade schools
Mention Horace or Ovid at most liberal universities and you will get a blank stare , even from literature students.
Yeah I mean some schools are already factoring people's zip codes as a method of assessing their "privilege'" so soon the mask will completely come off. Michigan had some sort of point system so black people could get into college. Reading and writing will mean absolutely zero soon.
Whole 10k word papers in ebonics
inB4 affluent white & asian families start moving to a poorer zipcode for the kid's senior year just so they can get the extra oppression points.
“Real estate prices in Watts are through the roof, but no one can figure out why.”
Ultimately all this does it seems is make it easier for actual high IQ people to be successful since they will be the only ones capable of getting any work done.
