I'm not familiar with the situation here. Philippines has won part of the sea against China but Duterte does not care because he has been bought by China?
Is this correct?
He does not care because according to him, we don't have the power to reclaim it, we don't have the means to reclaim it because China already occupied it. Despite saying when he was running for the presidency that he will fight tooth and nails to take back our territories in the West Philippine Sea, now he's backpedaling like he's the 2nd Ambassador of China to the Philippines.
That kind of sucks, Duterte seemed like a dude with some balls but I guess I was wrong.
It does suck. Since then, our fishermen are almost being murdered at sea by constant ramming of the Chinese Navy ships' on them and being harassed with live bullets everytime they go to our own waters to catch fish.
In fact, there are more 400+ fishing militia ships from China within the West Philippine Sea, that pillages our own aquatic resources, something that our fellowmen should have for themselves.
He was probably counting on Trump's navy as the means to reclaim it. For all the talk of enviornmentalism, progressives don't care when communist dictatorships destroy the enviornment. The Japanese got blamed for the Soviets massacring whales.
Duterte is anti-US, he don't need any help from the USA and have sold us out to the CCP.
He can be anti-US while still utilizing the US military to enact his will, see every politician in Afghanistan. I know nothing about pinoy politics though.
When he said that, the President of the US wasn't a feminist puppet who likely holds a grudge against him for "oppressing women".
He's correct, China has a vastly superior military and would obliterate the Philippines if they decided to go kinetic and after the fishing waters incident under Obama I wouldn't count on the US backing you up. His VP is now president and the guy who decided to let China have the area is also in the admin in the same position....."We're not going to war over a bunch of rocks" were his thoughts on the situation.
This guy knows that trusting Harris will end badly and took the only option available.
...which as an action set into motion; adds to which consequences for what you gave up on? Could negative intent cause negative outcomes; and could negative intent be suggested to others for the perpetuation of the same outcomes?
As one within the Philippines; what would you contribute to change the outcome...other than giving up that is?
