Since this is MGS and they say it's going to be a movie, I predict it will be 30 minutes of movie clips total scattered through 10 hours of forced unskippable video game play.
The worst part of this movie is it will almost assuredly pan over the aesthetic that made the games beautiful beyond their time and twist the story into an episode of 24
Worst part: the anti-war message will totally be downplayed. Can't have people thinking about how terrible bombing civilians is when there is a D next to the name of our dear leader here in the US.
This. Anti-war because of the military-industrial complex driving political leaders into wars for economic gain isn't going to be a factor here, despite that being a major theme in MGS.
It'll be about how FOXHOUND are a bunch of eugenicists (which they are) and that's bad (which is fuzzy in the lore). Solid Snake will be the woke protag who doesn't flirt with the female lead of the movie at all and he'll have to deal with the moral dilemma of being a eugenic clone of Big Boss as the climactic finale. The message will be that racism is bad.
This is one of those cases where lots of people yell about wanting something, not understanding that the mystery is oftentimes more interesting than if someone just handed it to you.
Ex. We want to know more about Han Solo! Solo movie comes out. No not like that!
Ex 2. Man the first John Wick was so cool! What if they explored the world more? JW 2 and 3 come out Ah...that's not quite what I wanted...
Also if you've played more than a few MGS games at this point you should realize that if Kojima can't even make a movie out of his games, why would people who don't know and don't care about MGS be able to?
The John Wick franchise has issues but it's not like Matrix or Star Wars where large numbers of fans simply don't acknowledge the existence of the sequels.
If you really dig down there's only ever been one franchise EVER where a sequel was unquestionably superior to the original and that was Back to the Future III.
Just sequels? Terminator 2, The Godfather Part II, Evil Dead 2, The Raid 2, The Dark Knight, and Aliens? If you want to stretch it the definition of sequel, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
They don't follow the sequel script pattern; they're solid films in their own right that require no knowledge of the preceding films. They are installments in the same sense that Bond films (typically) are.
The Godfather Part II, Captain America: The Winter Soldier

But not because it broke the mystery. Solo was terrible because its ideas were terrible, and because it tried to break every mystery, rendering his entire career down to one weekend of adventure.

Sony are really shit at films...this won't go well.
Oscar Isaac is a decent actor, but do we really believe that any franchise started now won't be filled with woke bullshit?

Downvoat for comparing John Wick to Solo.

Cough, cough - Empire Strikes Back.
Just sequels? Terminator 2, The Godfather Part II, Evil Dead 2, The Raid 2, The Dark Knight, and Aliens? If you want to stretch it the definition of sequel, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Is this a troll?

Me: "Oh, someone finally made a movie out of The Divine Comedy? OK, I'll check it out."
TV - "EA"
Me - "Uh-oh."
Not my snake. I never even heard of this guy
Gamers have been calling for this for 22 years. Can't wait to see them completely fuck it up and miss the point entirely.
Not sure if the actor for Poe really fits the look for Snake, but alright, he is a pretty good actor from what I have seen.
Sadly I expect it will end up being more woke trash.
Could be worse. They could've picked the guy who played Finn.
What do you want to bet they'll make Meryl black?
I'm sure they'll find new and interesting ways to bring about the greatest possible level of degenerate subversion.
shes a redhead, so of course they will
